A teenage mother who had an abortion was shocked to discover she was still pregnant three months later. 

Shannon Skinner, 19, had the abortion when she was eight weeks pregnant, having decided it was too soon to have a second child.

But in a rare occurrence, the procedure failed and she continued having morning sickness and feeling movements in her womb.

Doctors told her they were side effects of the abortion, but after three months Ms Skinner and partner Anthony Hunt, 24, convinced medics to take them seriously.

Tests revealed the mother-of-one was pregnant - and her baby daughter had miraculously survived the induced miscarriage.

The Nigerian military said yesterday that it launched ground and air operations over the weekend on locations used by terrorists in the Alafa forests, 21 kilometers from Bama, Borno State.

In a statement released Monday by the Director of Defense Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, the military disclosed that at least 56 terrorists lost their lives in an intense exchange of gunfire.

The statement added that two soldiers were wounded in the operation which was meant to track fleeing terrorists.

Major Olukolade the military had acted on intelligence which indicated that the terrorists were making renewed efforts to establish a new camp in the forest locations.

The land and air operations inflicted heavy casualties on the insurgents who reportedly lost both men and material.

According to the statement, “Air and land bombardments are continuing in different locations where terrorists have been reportedly sighted.”

A kebab shop owner has been ordered to pay £2,000 compensation after selling a pizza with a bolt embedded in the crust.

Mehmet Gilgil, 25, pleaded guilty to selling food not of the 'substance or quality required' after an inch-long lump of metal was found baked into a pizza at Flames Kebabs in Romford, East London.

The bolt is believed to have come loose inside the oven and fallen into the pizza as it cooked.

She might have sung about Hitchin’ A Ride back in the 1990s, but Sinitta rarely travels anything but first class – with or without her children, eight-year-old Magdalena and seven-year-old Zac.

The star, who also famously sang Shame, Shame, Shame, clearly felt none as she revealed on Twitter that while her two young children flew economy to Barbados for their winter break - she turned left to enjoy the eight hour flight in first class on the same plane.

The phrase ‘turning left’ relates to the section of an aeroplane where first class is situated, if you turn right you are, generally, in economy class.

A close family friend, Jason Gale, told MailOnline he travelled with the family but while Sinitta holed up in first class he sat with Magdalena and Zac keeping them company during the flight. 

He explained: 'We were very late booking our flights over to Barbados and could not get 4 seats together in any class on that day, so we got what tickets we could.'

As the singer wasn't feeling very well, Jason let her take the one first class seat they could purchase while he sat in economy with her two children. 

He said: 'I decided that I want to travel with the Children and let Sinitta take the seat in first class.'

Sinitta adopted eight-year-old Magdalena and seven-year-old Zac just before Christmas five years ago with her ex-husband Andy Willner. 

The So Macho singer has been seen spending time with her young family playing in the surf together.

A 27-man deadly kidnapping gang on Friday abducted a pastor, Godson Akubiro, and six of his children from their Adeosun Street residence, Koya Estate, Igbo Olomu, Ikorodu, Lagos State. Pastor Akubiro is said to be the founder of Mountain of Breakthrough Church in the area.

Richard Elsby, known as Gold Frank, felt angry and cheated when he found out the white tops, bearing his image and the words ‘Black runs through my veins’, were on sale in stores all over the world.

The 36-year-old's plight drew comparisons with the recent high-profile Rihanna case, when the singer successfully sued Topshop for using her image on a T-shirt.

Gold Frank, of Leeds, West Yorks., said: 'I spoke to to Rihanna’s lawyers and they said I had a good case for defamation, it could seem satanic because of the quote.'

Musician Gold Frank said he had pictures taken in June, 2012, for the website for his new studio in Leeds city centre. 

They were on the website the next month, and he heard about the T-shirts appearing in H&M in August this year.

After doing a bit of searching he found out that the images had gone on sale at the retail chain in May this year.

A man glassed by X Factor wannabe Lucie Slater has vowed to make it as a swimming coach once again after he was forced to temporarily give up his career.

Scott Aitken, 27, needed 30 stitches and two hours of surgery after he was attacked by Ms Slater in June last year. 

The attack damaged two nerves, cut an artery and forced him to give up work as a swimming teacher.

But the club DJ, of Ashington, Northumberland, has now returned to teaching the sport. 

On the night of the attack, Mr Aitken had been for a night out in Newcastle with Ms Slater before they returned to his home.

The former girlband member, who was thrown off X Factor for her crime, struck out when she allegedly discovered a message from another girl on Mr Aitken’s Facebook page.

Oduah To Spend N800m On Vehicles »

Nigeria’s embattled Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, will spend at least N800 million on vehicles in 2014, after splashing N643 million on 54 vehicles in 2013, her budget proposal shows.

The budget proposal, obtained by OLOKUNBOLABLESSING.NEWS, shows that Oduah will spend N250 million on eight operational vehicles for the Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, and another N500 million to buy some trucks for the agency. She will also spend another N50 million on staff buses at the Ministry of Aviation.

The budget proposal shows that the Ministry of Aviation will spend over N137 million on foreign trips.

Oduah will also spend N100 million on her controversial Aerotropolis Consultants, the city-airports she claims Nigeria desperately needs.

She will then spend another N20 million on other types of consultancies and another N425 million on consultancy of institutional reforms, legal services and commercial.

Lagos Assembly delays passage of budget

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, western Nigeria could not hide their confusion and disappointment on Monday evening when the House could not pass the 2014 as expected because the House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget handed to the House an incomplete report.

The bill was scheduled for passage by the House after the committee chairman, Mudashiru Obasa, last week laid the report of his committee containing the approved budget for the year, other explanations and details to the House in preparation for a presentation before the Committee of the Whole, in this case referred to as the Committee on Supply.

The lawmakers had all gathered for the day’s sitting on Monday and had resorted to the Committee on Supply when a member of the House, Suru Avoseh, raised an observation complaining that copies of the report were not available to the members.

The feeding cost has been lowered by N494 million or 45.5 percent in the 2014 budget proposal sent to the National Assembly by the president.

The 2014 request, if approved by lawmakers, will be the lowest amount of naira spent by the State House on feeding and allied costs in two years.

Female FCT Staff In Police Net

Operatives of the Special Fraud Unit, SFU, of the Nigeria Police at Milverton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have arrested a female staff of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Abuja, Hajara Egbra, 45, for allegedly obtaining the sum of N25 million under false pretence.
The  SFU’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Isitumen Agu, said the suspect was arrested following a written complaint by a female victim (name withheld) to the Commissioner of Police, CP Tunde Ogunsakin, that the suspect sold a plot of land to her within Asokoro Extension, Abuja, in 2009 for the sum of N25 million.
The victim alleged that she paid the money in three installments. She said she paid N10 million each for the first two installments and  the suspect issued receipts with invoice Nos.0073 and 0201 to her as proofs of purchase respectively, while the last payment of N5 million was made in 2012 through an old generation bank cheque No. 0179593.

China bans officials from smoking in hospitals and schools in bid to reduce annual 1.4million death toll

China has banned officials from smoking in public places such as schools and hospitals in renewed efforts to cut the 1.4million deaths linked to tobacco each year.
The edict, which comes from the highest levels of the ruling Communist Party, has been hailed as a 'major breakthrough' in a country which has the world's largest number of smokers with 300million.
Until Sunday's notice from the State Council, or China's Cabinet, and the party's central committee, attempts to curb smoking in public places were largely limited to city and other local-level measures.

The health ministry pushed out guidelines banning smoking in venues including hotels and restaurants in 2011, but these were criticized as having no clear punishments or details on how such bans would be enforced.
The new rules, which campaigners hope will help bring about a nationwide law banning smoking in public places, call on officials to lead by example by stubbing out their cigarettes.

A tin of biscuits and a pint of milk were both reported stolen from police stations as officers repeatedly filed crime reports for their own missing possessions.
Other items which were supposedly stolen from police stations in Devon and Cornwall included make-up, phone chargers, a torch and £2 in cash.
Police filed the bizarre reports at the same time as being called to deal with around 100 genuine thefts a day.

Saudi prince facing execution for murder after senior royalty insisted 'there is no difference between rich and poor'

A Saudi prince who murdered a fellow Saudi may be executed, a newspaper reported on Sunday, in a rare example of a member of the kingdom's ruling family facing the death penalty.
The English-language Arab News did not name the prince or his victim, but said a senior member of the family and government, Crown Prince Salman, had ‘cleared the way for the possible execution of a prince convicted of murdering a Saudi citizen’.

In a message about the case to Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, Prince Salman said: ‘Sharia (Islamic law) shall be applied to all without exception’, the daily reported.

Prince Salman's message followed a statement from the victim's father that he was not ready to pardon the killer and he was not happy with the amount offered as blood money.

Akure Kingdom gets new female monarch

The first daughter of late Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi Adegboye Adesida, who died of an undisclosed ailment on the 2nd of December, has been made the he new traditional ruler of Akure Kingdom.

Princess Adetutu Adeside-Ojie's position is said to be temporary pending when a new king emerges. She was installed after several traditional rites for the passage of her late father came to conclusion recently. The 36 year old new monarch lived abroad most of her life and holds a degree in pharmacy from the Texas Southern University, Houston Texas.

Until her appointment as the Kingdom's regent, Princess Adetutu worked as a clinical pharmacist with the University Health system, Hospital in San Antonto Texas. She is married with three children.

F1 legend Michael Schumacher fighting for his life following horrific skiing accident

Retired Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, 44, is fighting for his life after he fell and hit his head on a rock while skiing off piste with his 14-year-old son Mick in the resort of Meribel in the French Alps yesterday morning Sunday December 29th.

Doctors who treated the seven-time Formula One world champion said he would ‘have died’ had he not been wearing a crash helmet. But despite the helmet, Michael Schumacher suffered serious head injuries that has left him in a coma since the accident. The German driver required immediate brain surgery as he got to the hospital and is currently being kept in an induced coma, officials said.

Speaking at a press conference at the Grenoble Hospital where he's being treated, Doctors said they can't predict the future for Michael Schumacher.

"Michael Schumacher was the victim of very serious trauma. He was very agitated when he arrived and we decided he was in a critical situation and he quickly went into a coma. The neurosurgical treatment he received brought us quite a lot of information. We had to operate urgently to release some pressure in his head. Unfortunately, he has some lesions within his brain. Woman suffers serious head injuries after jumping 50ft from burning block of flats

A woman was seriously injured in the early hours of this morning after she jumped from her third-floor flat during a fire.
She was apparently trapped inside the flat in Haggerston, East London when the blaze broke out, forcing the evacuation of the building.
After jumping from the window in a bid to save herself, she fell nearly 50ft to the ground and suffered serious head injuries.
Fire engines and ambulances attended the scene, and paramedics took the woman to be treated in hospital.

The five-bedroom flat where the unidentified woman lives received 25 per cent damage, according to firemen, but was only part of the six-storey building affected.
No one else is believed to have been hurt in the fire, which broke out shortly before 3am.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: 'We received a call at 2.50 this morning to Adelaide Wharf, Whiston Road.
'One adult female jumped from the third-floor level before we arrived. She was removed by the London Ambulance Service.

He has admitted stabbing his 49-year-old victim to death, and leaving his mutilated body in an underground car park close to La Defense business district of Paris.

 

'He was arrested at around 4am on Sunday morning, and was covered in blood,' said a judicial source.

'His hand was bleeding but there seemed to be a lot more blood on him than was coming from the hand wound.

'After treatment in hospital, he told us that he had been drinking his victim's blood. These claims are being investigated.'

When questioned by police, the suspect was only able to speak in English, and also spoke about the Baltic state where he claims to come from.

A 23-year-old university student in China will be executed after hanging two prostitutes and having sex with their corpses.

The student, whose surname is Lee, was studying design at Jilin University in Changchun and told police that he had been failing a lot of classes and called the prostitutes to help relieve the pressure.

He also told detectives that he used to have fantasies about having sex with dead bodies and decided one morning that he could no longer resist carrying it out.

A young chef died from a brain haemorrhage after an ambulance took two hours to reach his home.
Paul Nelson, 26, collapsed in his bathroom in the village of Blakeney in Norfolk, after returning from a shift at a local hotel with a headache.
Mr Nelson's parents watched as his condition deteriorated, culminating in him coughing up blood and collapsing on the bathroom floor.
His father Sidney Nelson, 59, and stepmother Haylie Wardhaugh, 45, dialled 999 at 11.15pm but an ambulance did not arrive until after 1am the next day - taking more than six times longer than targets dictate.

She covered her dinner with peri peri sauce and salad and had eaten most of the meal before realising what it was. She was so distraught after eating the chicken she unsuccessfully tried to make herself sick when she got home.
She was also still distressed the next day and was allowed to go home early from her job as placements officer at the University of Birmingham.
The manager at the restaurant apologised and offered her vouchers for another meal, which she refused.
She said: 'They can never say or do anything to make this up to me. Nothing can compensate me for those 28 years.
I can feel it sitting there in my stomach. I feel like it’s not my body anymore. They took away my choice about what to put in my body and now I can’t ever say that I have never eaten meat. I have devoted myself to this for 28 years and someone has taken this away from me.
'I want to know what steps they are taking to stop this happening again. I was a Nando’s fan but I will never go there again.'

A Nando’s spokesman said: 'We deeply regret that a customer was mistakenly served a chicken pitta instead of the halloumi pitta ordered.
'Nando’s has the utmost respect for all our customers’ eating choices and this was an honest - and extremely rare - mistake which the restaurant are extremely sorry about.
'We are currently in contact with the customer and have offered our sincere apologies and are investigating how this has happened to ensure it doesn’t happen again.'

Ogueshi Nwoye was said to have collapsed and subsequently died at the weekend after engaging in a long bout of sex with a woman identified simply as “Lady P”.
